Bone Idol Brighton partners with Dogs & Horses

Bone Idol Brighton partners with Dogs & Horses

Healthy, happy and fabulous, in that order, is the mantra at Bone Idol, an upmarket dog grooming salon and boutique pet store in the heart of Brighton.

It’s also where you and your pup can find an exclusive selection of Dogs & Horses leather dog collars, leads and made-to-order harnesses.

Bone Idol is a great example of like-minded professionals with whom we love collaborating. Naturally, they fuss over the dogs in their care. But they're also promoting British Made artisan craftsmanship within their curated product offering.

Partner and senior groomer Ben Thorpe of Bone Idol Brighton

The seeds of Bone Idol were planted when then-yoga instructor, Jon Clark, along with partner, PR professional, Scott Learmouth, moved from Essex to Brighton.

The couple were surprised they couldn’t find a luxurious groom for their dogs Krystle and Blake. Then they met dog groomer Ben Thorpe.

A life-long dog lover and rescuer, Ben previously provided human haircuts at Toni and Guy, but had switched to his passion for dog grooming some years prior.

The trio decided to take the plunge and go into business together setting up their own grooming parlour on St. James’s Street in Kemptown, a ball’s throw from Brighton Pier (with a good arm, maybe with a Chuck-It).

"It's not just about grooming dogs for us,” explains Ben. “We want to make sure that every dog leaves super happy and that the owners’ expectations are met the best way possible wherever we can.

We love them all. I mean who doesn’t want their four legged best friend looking fabulous on Brighton sea front!”

Bone Idol Brighton's curated offering includes their own-brand healthy dog food Nora Nose Best (also available in cold-pressed). The shop features a wide selection of Dogs & Horses collars and leads as well as rolled soft leather harnesses that can be made-to-order.

Care and attention go into the product selection for the shop. Rawhide is a no-no, and a healthy deli of ‘pick-your-own’ snacks is irresistible for any visiting dog. Toy lines which encourage natural play styles for different doggy personalities also feature. Their support of British Made appeals to the calibre of client the shop attracts.

Bone Idol is more than just a shop and salon. Indeed, the company has grown to include a dog grooming academy and salon in nearby Hove (run by Pooch Perfect contestant and skilled groomer, Helen Kirby, the academy takes students through the Ofqual-regulated iPet Network qualification), its own-brand healthy dog food Nora Nose Best, and an online portal for pet parents.
