Materials
Made of soft European leather battle-tested against the elements.
Colour-fast (will not leech dye onto your dog's coat)*
Solid brass or nickel-plated (silver) solid load-bearing fittings to ensure strength of the collar and security of your dog.
*do not allow the leather to come into contact with chemicals from liquid flea treatments
Care Instructions
A cleaning with dubbin or saddle soap, then buffed with a leather restorative like Neat's Foot Oil or a beeswax product (e.g. Renapur or Leather Genie) will help restore the leather to its natural lustre and protect it against the elements.
Leather and Water. To help ensure the longevity of your dog's leather collar, allow to air-dry (not on a radiator) after it gets wet and ensure it is dry before re-using. Treat with a leather restorative, as above. Although we seal the edges, water can still infiltrate the leather and cause it to deteriorate (cleaning with a damp cloth and a mild non-abrasive cleaner is also fine though always advisable to test to ensure colour does not lift).
Regular Inspection. We encourage regular hands-on inspection and cleaning of your items to ensure against wear and tear as well as the comfort and security of your dog.
Do not allow the leather to come into contact with the chemicals from commercially-available flea spot-on treatments. This will damage the leather and may cause the dye to run (this applies to all leather - including car seats or leather upholstered furniture).
I purchased my first D & H rolled leather collar for my very first dog 9 years ago, and I have never looked back. When I purchased my second and third dogs, I again bought identical collars in different colours. I bought my female Bichon Frise a lilac collar a few years ago and decided i wanted her to have a pink one as well. These collars are extremely well made, and look very attractive on my fur babies. The customer service is excellent and they were very helpful in answering my questions. I highly recommend D & H and would not buy any other brand.
This is the second beautiful red leather collar we’ve had for our black Labrador. It really sets her off a treat. Great quality and customer service.
excellent customer service and good product , been happy with the service. they change the size, and soon i contact them, they replace it ASAP, top notch customer service, will always used this company again. thank you
The metal fitments have tarnished within two weeks, which is a great shame, but the weather has been awful and perhaps this makes sense.
You must clean the fitments, ESPECIALLY if you purchase those with some colour. They aren't brass as you might believe, they are coated steel, and that coating wears away very quickly.
They are beautiful little collars, the colour and leather is incredibly appealing, especially the paler colours. It really is tough leather. Definitely be adventurous with the colour, your dog will look positively regal!
these absolutely require some brushing away of dirt and the application of some sort of leather conditioner/moisturizer should they get mucky. There is some exposed leather grain which I worry will fray, but it hasn't yet over the 28 countryside walks they've worn these collars.
Unfortunately, a good collar costs. These are good collars!
I have been using this product for many years. It's simple and very good, and I never get tired of it. This time, the collar was wider than I expected and too big for my dog. I consulted with them and they quickly made a thinner version. I am very grateful for their kind service.
