Care Instructions

A cleaning with dubbin or saddle soap, then buffed with a leather restorative like Neat's Foot Oil or a beeswax product (e.g. Renapur or Leather Genie) will help restore the leather to its natural lustre and protect it against the elements.

Leather and Water. To help ensure the longevity of your dog's leather collar, allow to air-dry (not on a radiator) after it gets wet and ensure it is dry before re-using. Treat with a leather restorative, as above. Although we seal the edges, water can still infiltrate the leather and cause it to deteriorate (cleaning with a damp cloth and a mild non-abrasive cleaner is also fine though always advisable to test to ensure colour does not lift).

Metal fittings. Our solid brass fittings are a ‘living finish’—they will develop a natural patina over time. This is part of their character and can be polished back to a bright finish if preferred. Brass will tarnish as it's exposed to air or damp conditions. Simply treat brass or other metals with a metal cleaner (eg. Brasso). Do not allow your dog to breathe in the fumes from metal cleaners.

Regular Inspection. We encourage regular hands-on inspection and cleaning of your items to ensure against wear and tear and to ensure the comfort and security of your dog.

Do not allow the leather to come into contact with the chemicals from commercially-available flea spot-on treatments. This will damage the leather and may cause the dye to run (this applies to all leather - including car seats or leather upholstered furniture).
